Adelaine Teo

Senior Specialist Psychologist Dyslexia Association Singapore

Adelaine joined the Dyslexia Association of Singapore (DAS) in 2012, and currently holds the position of a Senior Specialist Psychologist. Other than conducting psycho-educational assessments for children suspected of having learning difficulties, she also carries out training workshops and participates in research projects.

Adelaine graduated from the National University of Singapore in 2011 with a Bachelor of Social Sciences (Honours) in Psychology, and from the National Institute of Education in 2018 with a Master of Arts (Applied Psychology). She is a registered psychologist with the Singapore Register of Psychologists, and a full member of the Singapore Psychological Society. She is also a certified Signposts facilitator.

Edgar Tham

Edgar K. Tham is Singapore pioneer sport & performance psychologist; he was employed by the Singapore government as its very first sport psychologist in 1995. As the travelling team psychologist to numerous national team athletes competing at the SEA Games, Asian Games, Commonwealth Games, Olympic Games and others, he had personally coached Olympic and World Championship level athletes to achieve greatness.

 

After leaving the government-service, he started a private practice www.sportpsychconsulting.com in 2006, and continues to share his high-performance psychology expertise with other peak performers from other domains outside of sport, including business, sales, online trading, military, health care, performing arts, education, etc. Presently, SportPsych Consulting has regional offices in Manila (Philippines) and Surabaya (Indonesia).

 

Edgar is currently an associate faculty in Applied Sport Psychology at the Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS). He is the co-author of Mental Toughness Strategies of the World's Greatest Athletes and In the Zone: The Mindset for Peak Performance in Sport. He uses the lessons learned from champion elite sport as a metaphor for teaching the principles of peak performance under pressure and stress.

An organisational psychologist by training, Ta Chuia has a wealth of experience in areas of work related to psychological assessment, intervention and applied research. He has been with the Ministry of Defence / Singapore Armed Forces for more than 25 years, and has held various positions in operations support, training and doctrine development. He is currently responsible in managing the psychological health systems in the Ministry of Defence.

Ta Chuia graduated from University College London in 1997 with a Bachelor of Science (2nd Upper) in Psychology. He also holds a Master of Science in Organisational Psychology from Manchester Business School, University of Manchester. He is currently a PhD candidate with Birkbeck, University of London, and is expected to complete the programme this year. His PhD thesis is on psychological resilience.

Jonathan "Jaytee" Tang has been a music therapist for 5 years and worked as a medical music therapist at AdventHealth Orlando (formerly Florida Hospital Orlando) in Florida, USA, before moving back to Singapore. Jaytee has worked with patients of all ages and various diagnoses including patients in the neonatal intensive care unit, with psychiatric conditions, undergoing physical rehabilitation, receiving palliative care, and at end-of-life. Jaytee has presented internationally on topics such as music therapy technology, multicultural music therapy, music therapy education, and music therapy and rehabilitation. His research interests include multicultural music therapy and music therapy in rehabilitation.

Dr Sandor Heng is a Senior Clinical Psychologist working at the National Addictions Management Service (NAMS). Prior to joining NAMS, he worked in the Psychology Department at IMH for 2 years.

Sandor completed the Doctor of Psychology (Clinical) program in Griffith University (Queensland, Australia) and currently holds a psychologist registration (with clinical psychology endorsement) with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency. Eulisia Er Si Yi

Eulisia is a PhD Candidate (Early Childhood and Special needs Education) at Nanyang Technological University. She is working as an Educational Psychologist in Metta School, a special education (SPED) school in Singapore. Eulisia’s work entails the provision of assessments, behaviour management support and execution of intervention to children with developmental needs. Eulisia won several awards (Best Research, Best Writing and Best Oral Presentation) in the recent 2017 Singapore Psychological Society Student Research Awards. She has actively participated and presented her research in key conferences in Greece, Japan, USA, UK and Singapore.

 

In addition, Eulisia is a Registered Psychologist of Singapore Psychological Society and an International Affiliate with the American Association of Singapore. Eulisia is a Certified Substance Abuse Therapist (CSAT), certified by the Asia Pacific Certification Board (APCB). She is also a certified trainer of the Good Enough Parenting (GEP) programme as accredited by Ministry of Social and Family Development. Since 2012, Eulisia is an Accredited Facilitator for Signposts for Building Better Behaviour Programme, a programme put together by KK Women and Children Hospital’s Department of Child Development (KKH DCD) and Parenting Research Centre (PRC), Australia.

Chloe is an art therapist and artist with a background in education. She enjoys working with individuals of all ages, ranging from babies to the elderly. Beyond her clinical work she runs various psych-educational, family bonding, corporate and community art programs locally and internationally.

As a clinician she specialises in working with children with special needs and their families. She has provided clinical services in Melbourne Specialist International School, THK EIPIC Centre, The Cerebral Palsy Centre Singapore, St Gerard's International School, White Lodge Kindergarten and Kits4Kids Singapore. Chloe also works freelance with at-risk children, youth and adults who have experienced trauma/abuse, hospitalisation or problems with the law.

Chloe is able to relate well with people from all walks of life, having lived in various cities across US, Europe and Asia. As a Swiss-American, Chloe is fluent in English and French and speaks basic Chinese and German. Chloe counts herself privileged to be part of her clients’ transformative journey and share in their joy as they overcome challenges and enhance their quality of life.

Ernest is Senior Educational Psychologist from Community Psychology Hub and AWWA Ltd. He conducts assessments and interventions for children with developmental and learning delays within preschools. As a member of the trans-disciplinary team working within the community, he works alongside other child development and early childhood professionals to advocate inclusion for children in their preschools.

 

Ernest graduated with a Bachelor of Social Sciences (Honours) from NUS and a Master of Arts (Applied Psychology) from NTU. He is a registered psychologist in Singapore and holds memberships with the Singapore Psychological Society and the American Psychological Association. Alva Liow believes in working on the ground to empower fellow human beings who need an extra hand or an extra voice to tide through difficulties. That is why she joined the Community Psychology Hub. As a Senior Clinical Psychologist, she has six years of experience working with children and teenagers with special needs as well as families and children in vulnerable situations. In her work at Community Psychology Hub, she helps children who have experienced traumatic situations. Before CPH, she worked as an associate psychologist in Pathlight School and was an intern psychologist at NUH, National Cancer Centre Singapore, and JCU Psychology Clinic. She graduated with a First Class Honours degree at NUS and a Master’s degree at JCU, during which she was elected as valedictorian twice. Isobel is a Clinical Psychologist at the Clinical and Forensic Psychology Service (CFPS) of the Ministry of Social and Family Development (MSF) since 2016. She obtained her undergraduate degree and Masters in Clinical Psychology from the National University of Singapore (NUS). Isobel specialises in conducting clinical assessments and providing individual and systemic trauma-focused treatment for children, youth and families in community settings. Initially part of the Sexual Abuse Intervention Unit, Isobel currently works within the Trauma System Specialist Unit (TSSU) and focuses on delivering Trauma Systems Therapy (TST) to children and youths, with the aim to reduce trauma symptoms and improve their overall well-being. Isobel has also been trained in Implementation Science and conducts implementation consultation and activities for TST in residential and community settings.

Julie Goldstein did her psychology training at the University of London and her therapy training at the Gestalt Centre in London. She is a qualified academic and clinician, currently accredited in the UK and Singapore. She follows the code of ethics of the Association for Humanistic Practitioners (UK) and takes part in ongoing networks and regular supervision and engages in personal and professional growth.


Julie has been in private practice since 2008; before coming to Singapore, she has worked at the University of London as Lecturer and Course Coordinator, and in a more clinical capacity at Bereavement Services, and at a human right organization supporting asylum seekers and refugees. In Singapore, she has worked in private practice for 6 years with people from different backgrounds.


Julie’s approach is relational, experiential, humanistic, and culturally- sensitive. Julie specializes in trauma and bereavement, anxiety and post-traumatic stress, depression, addictions, fertility and family planning, couple therapy (Gestalt, EFT), family therapy (Integrative), and other creative approaches including play therapy and Jungian therapy.


Julie is excited about the new course in Gestalt therapy that she has started running with Tembusu Training and Therapy, and is passionate about spreading knowledge of Gestalt Therapy in SEA.

Ms Tan Ching Yee is a registered social worker and is currently the Head of Psychosocial Services (PSS) at HCA Hospice Care. Trained in social work, rehabilitation counselling and palliative care, she has over 35 years of experience working in restructured hospitals where she supported people experiencing illness and disabilities, their families and caregivers as they go through phases of treatment, rehabilitation and recovery. Ms Tan also provides guidance and supervision to social workers and counsellors.

Dr Grace Soo is a Senior Clinical Psychologist at the Institute of Mental Health, Singapore. She works with children and adolescents in Child Guidance Clinic, adults in the Psychotherapy Centre, as well as the adults in the inpatient wards. She previously worked in REACH, Singapore's community health team for children and adolescents, during which she was awarded the Sayang Award for excellence and empathic service. She was awarded the Healthcare Manpower Development Plan scholarship to further her studies in Australia. Grace completed the Doctor of Clinical Psychology at Macquarie University, Sydney, and was a Donald J Cohen Fellow in the IACAPAP 2018 Congress.

Ms Porsche Poh currently serves as the Executive Director of Silver Ribbon (Singapore). She also holds several other portfolios, namely, Social Service Fellow, Advisory Committee Member on Peer Representation in Singapore, Member of The Leadership Selection Panel, and Associate Trainer with the Civil Service College.

 

She has previously served as the Board Member (2010 – 2012), Regional Vice President (Asia Pacific) (2012 – 2015) and Corporate Secretary (2015 – 2017) of the World Federation for Mental Health and presented on mental health promotion and advocacy locally and overseas, including the 5th Southeast Asian Studies Symposium @ University of Oxford, the Cambridge University Southeast Asian Forum, and the 63rd session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW63) at the United Nations Headquarters, New York, United States.

 

To promote mental health literacy, she has launched 4 publications including Mental Health Revolution – Making Things Happen (2011), Mental Health Matters: Handbook for Grassroots Leaders (2015), Mind: Your Business (2015) and Get Started: Investing in Mental Health @ Workplace (2017).

 

For her contribution in mental health promotion and advocacy, she has received a list of awards including The Outstanding Young Persons of Singapore (TOYP) Award from the Junior Chamber International (2008), Community of Practice Mental Health Champion from the Social Service Training Institute (2013), Singapore Woman Award (2013), and Social Service Fellowship Award from National Council of Social Service (2016).

In the therapy room, Jessie focuses on learning your life stories in order to have a deeper understanding of your worldviews. Jessie is a ‘Licensed Psychologist’ in the state of California, USA and is a full member and registered supervisor with the Singapore Psychological Society. An expert in the field of positive psychology with 17 years of experience in the higher education and training industry, Stephen has been interviewed and featured by Singapore medias such as Channel News Asia, 938NOW, The Straits Times, Harper’s Bazaar, and 8 Days about positive psychology-related topics. He is regularly invited to speak at events: he was a panelist at the “Give the Gift of Happiness – Restore a Smile” conference organised by Nestle in support of Operation Smile children’s charity in 2012; a presenter at the “Innerpositiveness” conference organised by HR Net and TSPP in 2011. Stephen’s growing public profile has also led to him being selected to be featured in the ‘Think Big Case Study – The Psychology of Entrepreneurs’ by Canon in 2012. In March 2014, Stephen was invited as a topic expert to speak about happiness in Singapore for Coca Cola’s “Movement is Happiness” initiative. A strong believer in giving back to society, Stephen actively volunteers his personal time for community projects; be it giving talks to community and religious groups, or providing pro-bono psychology training to welfare organisations. He is also a certified psychotherapist, clinical hypnotherapist, supervisor, and a fellow with the National Council of Psychotherapists in the United Kingdom. Geoffrey Goh

Geoffrey has been in the special education field close to 20 years. He started out as a teacher in a special school, teaching students with autism, cerebral palsy, down syndrome, and other multiple disabilities. He gradually moved on to the field of educational psychology and is a registered educational psychologist with the Singapore Psychological Society. He is trained to study the social, emotional and cognitive processes of how students learn and retain knowledge. He applies psychological science to improve the learning process and promote educational success for all students. His specialty is children with developmental and learning disability such as dyslexia, autism, ADHD and other physical disabilities. His growing interest is in the field of neuropsychology, which is the study of brain-behaviour relationships.

Jeslyn Lim

Jeslyn is the Managing Director of Mind Culture and Co-founder of Thrive Psychology Clinic. She is a certified practitioner of Integral Eye Movement Therapy (IEMT) and a member of Association for IEMT Practitioner. Jeslyn is the current President of Association of Psychotherapy and Counsellors Singapore (APACS) as well as full member of Singapore Psychological Society (SPS). With extensive experience working in the service and education sectors, she had attained vast opportunities to work with disadvantaged and disenfranchised children, youth, as well as adults (with specialty in the psychological dysfunction, intellectually disabled individuals and their families).

Alongside with Advance Certification in Training and Assessment (ACTA), Jeslyn lectures in institutions and is currently providing psychological services in the National University Hospital (NUH) and Jurong Community Hospital for staff wellness. As a psychologist and a hypnotherapist, she took charge of clinical assessment and program, individual behavioural plan (IBP) development, clinical supervision and clinical meetings with parents. With experience in behavioural and language intervention (trained in ABLLS™‐R, ABA & VB techniques/ physiology) and alongside with hypnotherapeutic work, she is National Guild of Hypnotists (NGH) Certified with an Advanced Certification In 5-PATH®, as well as a 7th PATH Self-Hypnosis Teacher.

Jeslyn works closely with clients in achieving individualised learning goals progressively. Apart from her work experience in the social service industry, Jeslyn also spent years in the private sectors in management level, ensuring employees’ well-being by performing conflict resolution, and providing counselling services. This further fortified her skills in dealing with clients regarding matters of safety, crisis, and restorative management. She developed therapeutic interventions to promote motivation and heighten work morale as well as work ethics. Additionally, Jeslyn is experienced in the medical sector as a senior surgical operating assistant, dealing with patients and cases that included financial hardship, phobias, and socio-emotional needs.

Keren Lee is a Psychotherapist, Behavioural Therapist, Clinical Hypnotherapist, and Educator (piano and neuro training). She is also the current Assistant Secretary of the Association of Psychotherapists and Counsellors, Singapore (APACS).

While she has a wealth of experience with individuals of all ages, Keren’s life passion is centred on improving the lives of children and adolescents. Keren has experience with individuals with various issues, some of which include: anxiety, exam stress, Autism Spectrum Disorders, ADHD, giftedness, parental separation and trauma, mild depression, youth anger management, mild cognitive impairment, and individuals who seek help to elevate their confidence and focus before a sporting event/competition through hypnosis, etc. Besides therapy, she also conducts brain training programmes for children using neurotechnology and psychological principles.

Aside from educating and providing therapy to her clients, Keren also develops and markets programmes, workshops, and prepares training materials for private and governmental organisations. Keren has experience working with practitioners and organisations on an international scale. Based at a psychology clinic, she also manages her own team to ensure the clinic operates efficiently and also hosts a number of workshops for families such as "Sign Language and Child Development".

Keren's prior work experiences include Company Secretary team at SGX, piano educator (private), Researcher at NUS FASS, Researcher at Duke-NUS Medical School (Neuroscience and Behavioural Disorders). Neo Loo Seng is a Principal Behavioural Sciences Research Analyst with the Home Team Behavioural Sciences Centre at the Ministry of Home Affairs, Singapore. For the past 12 years, Loo Seng has been specialising in the area of violent extremism, particularly in the fields of online radicalisation, online threat assessment, pre-attack warning signs, and psychology of violent extremism.

He works with a team of research analysts undertaking behavioural sciences research on violent extremism, resilience and intergroup conflict. He has presented at many international conferences, trained law enforcement officers, and published many government research reports and peer-reviewed journals and book chapters on the topic of violent extremism. He has also co-edited a book titled ‘Combating Violent Extremism and Radicalisation in the Digital Era’ in 2016, a four-volume compendium titled ‘A Behavioural Sciences Approach to Understanding Terrorism’ in 2017, and co-edited another book titled ‘Learning from violent extremist attacks: Behavioural sciences insights for practitioners and policymakers’.

Loo Seng is currently pursuing his PhD in psychology researching on the personality profile of violent extremists at Nanyang Technological University.

Established in New Zealand in 1997, OPRA has 7 offices in 3 countries, and is considered the premium I/O psychology business in Asia-Pacific with clients like Microsoft, Nokia, Red Hat and Starwood Hotels. Born and educated in New Zealand, Paul has over two decades of experience in the field of I/O psychology.

As a strong advocate of the scientist/practitioner model, Paul remains active academically. Paul received his Ph.D. from Victoria University of Wellington in 2002, focusing his thesis on unemployment. Through the years he has undertaken lectureships on I/O psychology-related topics at Massey University, University of Waikato and Victoria University of Wellington in New Zealand. Currently, Paul is an associate faculty at the Singapore University of Social Sciences and Nanyang Technological University, where he designs curriculum and teaches various modules in psychology, including conflict and negotiation, personality, leadership, and personnel selection. Paul has also designed and delivers the practicum course on I/O psychology, including a model of coaching, for NTU’s graduating students.

Paul is a Registered Psychologist with both the Singapore Psychological Society and the New Zealand Psychological Society and is a Supervisor on the Singapore Register of Psychologists. Paul is also a member of the Australian Institute of Directors, British Psychological Society, Singapore Psychological Society, and New Zealand Psychological Society, and was also formerly the Chairperson of the Industrial and Organisational division of the New Zealand Psychological Society. Paul is a certified EFPA (European Federation of Psychologists' Associations) accreditor.

 

Paul is widely published in academic and industry publications, such as Industrial and Organizational Psychology, International Journal of Selection and Assessment, and New Zealand Journal of Psychology, and is also regarded as a thought leader in his field by the wider HR and I/O community.

Stephen Lew

Founder/ Executive Director

Stephen Lew is the Founder and Executive Director of The School of Positive Psychology (TSPP), a Singapore-based higher education institute that offers psychological centric training programmes for professional and corporate development. Since 2007, TSPP has trained more than 15,000 students and more than 500 organisations, and expanded its corporate training services to Philippines, Hong Kong and Japan.

 

An expert in the field of positive psychology with 17 years of experience in the higher education and training industry, Stephen has been interviewed and featured by Singapore medias such as Channel News Asia, 938NOW, The Straits Times, Harper’s Bazaar, and 8 Days about positive psychology-related topics. He is regularly invited to speak at events: he was a panelist at the “Give the Gift of Happiness – Restore a Smile” conference organised by Nestle in support of Operation Smile children’s charity in 2012; a presenter at the “Innerpositiveness” conference organised by HR Net and TSPP in 2011. Stephen’s growing public profile has also led to him being selected to be featured in the ‘Think Big Case Study – The Psychology of Entrepreneurs’ by Canon in 2012. In March 2014, Stephen was invited as a topic expert to speak about happiness in Singapore for Coca Cola’s “Movement is Happiness” initiative. From 2014 to 2018, he went on radio on 938LIVE to share topics in positive psychology for personal and professional development. In 2018, he was featured in exclusive interviews on Asian Entrepreneur and CEO library.

 

A strong believer in giving back to society, Stephen actively volunteers his personal time for community projects; be it giving talks to community and religious groups, or providing pro-bono psychology training to welfare organisations. Stephen holds a MSc Applied Positive Psychology with a focus in Organisational Psychology and Leadership. He is also a certified psychotherapist, clinical hypnotherapist, supervisor, and a fellow with the National Council of Psychotherapists in the United Kingdom. As a psychotherapist and a positive psychology coach, Stephen has worked with more than 800 clients in the areas of wellbeing development.

Jeslyn Lim

Jeslyn is the Managing Director of Mind Culture and Co-founder of Thrive Psychology Clinic. She is a certified practitioner of Integral Eye Movement Therapy (IEMT) and a member of Association for IEMT Practitioner. Jeslyn is the current President of Association of Psychotherapy and Counsellors Singapore (APACS) as well as full member of Singapore Psychological Society (SPS). With extensive experience working in the service and education sectors, she had attained vast opportunities to work with disadvantaged and disenfranchised children, youth, as well as adults (with specialty in the psychological dysfunction, intellectually disabled individuals and their families).

Alongside with Advance Certification in Training and Assessment (ACTA), Jeslyn lectures in institutions and is currently providing psychological services in the National University Hospital (NUH) and Jurong Community Hospital for staff wellness. As a psychologist and a hypnotherapist, she took charge of clinical assessment and program, individual behavioural plan (IBP) development, clinical supervision and clinical meetings with parents. With experience in behavioural and language intervention (trained in ABLLS™‐R, ABA & VB techniques/ physiology) and alongside with hypnotherapeutic work, she is National Guild of Hypnotists (NGH) Certified with an Advanced Certification In 5-PATH®, as well as a 7th PATH Self-Hypnosis Teacher.

Jeslyn works closely with clients in achieving individualised learning goals progressively. Apart from her work experience in the social service industry, Jeslyn also spent years in the private sectors in management level, ensuring employees’ well-being by performing conflict resolution, and providing counselling services. This further fortified her skills in dealing with clients regarding matters of safety, crisis, and restorative management. She developed therapeutic interventions to promote motivation and heighten work morale as well as work ethics. Additionally, Jeslyn is experienced in the medical sector as a senior surgical operating assistant, dealing with patients and cases that included financial hardship, phobias, and socio-emotional needs.

Faridah Ali Chang

Principal Trainer and Consultant, RCTC
Rainbow Centre, SIngapore

Faridah is the principal trainer and consultant for Rainbow Centre Training & Consultancy
(RCTC), with more than 20 years of experience in the area of Special Needs. She shares her experience as a teacher and a psychologist in the Early Intervention and Special Education with educator, parent and professional trainees. She is also an experienced speaker on specific disability topics and regularly presents to the public, medical organisations and tertiary institutions in Singapore and the Asia-Pacific region.
Faridah is trained in the Orton-Gillingham approach for children with Dyslexia, the Treatment
and Education of Autistic and Related Communication handicapped Children (TEACCH,
Level 1), and is a certified ADI-R and MBTI practitioner. She completed her graduate
research on the Quality of Life of Adults with Multiple Disabilities and their Parents, and
holds a Master of Arts (by Research) from the National Institute of Education.
